Rittal Systems Ltd. is being recognized as a Great Place to Work®

Rittal Systems Ltd. has been recognized as one of this year’s Best Workplaces in Canada. This list, and related stories, appeared in a special national report on Thursday April 16th, 2014 in The Globe and Mail.

Excellence for our customers has always been a primary goal for Rittal.   The journey to becoming a company that is customer friendly and focused starts with the dedicated group of individuals comprising Rittal Systems Ltd.  The employees make a difference with our customer’s everyday and providing them with the proper tools, support and recognition is critical for success.  The cooperative effort within Rittal to improve our organization was instrumental in creating a better environment for our customers and it also created a better environment for the employees.   Everyone participates in driving change and improvement within the organization and everyone shares in the success we achieve together.

Rittal Systems Ltd. Is extremely proud to be recognized as a “Great Place to Work” and is honored to be ranked 36th in the category of companies with less than 1,000 employees.

Regardless of size, industry sector or the current economic situation, the universal basis for quality jobs and performance excellence in any company is a workplace culture based on TRUST. Trust cannot be demanded or assumed – it could only be earned. Not through words, but through deeds. We earn our customers’ trust every day by providing consistent customer service and our colleagues can rely on us because they can trust us. A corporate culture that fosters trust, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie makes the company a great place to work.

Becoming a “Best Workplaces in Canada” was not the goal for our company.  What we struck out to do was to highly differentiate ourselves in our industry by becoming the best company to work WITH!  To do this set us upon a long journey over the past five years of completely redoing how we looked internally and externally and discovering intimately what our customers and partners were looking for.  Having the best possible team and leadership in place became a wildly important goal for us and the results of this journey not only saw our Canadian business almost double in size but the feedback from our customers and partners was almost immediate.  As we continued to learn about what it takes to be the best to work WITH we witnessed the commitment and pride grow immensely internally and thus our journey continued to be the best we could be inside and out!

It takes a dedicated team to bring to life this type of accomplishment. Our customer surveys and the feedback we receive on a regular basis confirm that we are being perceived as a professional, dedicated and a customer-oriented company. Becoming a great place to work means becoming a great company overall as our daily actions, teamwork, fairness and commitment reflect on delivering a better customer service.

Our success is a result of the trust in the human relationships we build every day. Approaching daily challenges with enthusiasm, acting with integrity, showing our colleagues that we care make our jobs more meaningful and both our company and society a better place!

What our customers see is how we feel and therefore winning this award confirmed to our organization that we are on the right path and the journey continues.  It is my honor as the CEO of the organization to have been part of this transformation.

This list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada.  The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 58-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.

This year’s list received over 300 nominations and over 60,000 employees participated in the 2014 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey.
