Opportunities to review proposed changes to the national construction codes of Canada will run from September 1 to October 30, 2009.
Approximately 50 technical changes are being proposed to the National Building Code of Canada (NBC), the National Fire Code and the National Plumbing Code. The changes cover four main topics: care occupancies, climbable guards, protection against falls from residential occupancy windows, radon ingress for NBC Part 9, and Reference documents, including Localities for Seismic Values and Climatic Data in NBC Appendix C.

A project to update the Model National Energy Code for Buildings 1997 is also underway. An updated document with an objective based format is scheduled for publication in late 2011.
