Sea-to-Sky test section wins top B.C. consulting engineering award

Winner of the top award from the Consulting Engineers of British Columbia this year is Associated Engineering (BC) and Golder Associates, for their design of a test section of the Sea-To-Sky Highway. The project won the prestigious Lieutenant Governor Award of Excellence, which is chosen from all the other awards of excellence as excelling in all areas of the criteria.
The Meritorious Achievement Award, which is given to one individual person went to Mr. Russell Fraser, P.Eng., a former BC Attorney General. The award recognizes his
contributions to engineering, the industry and his community.
Awards of Excellence went to:
Sandwell Engineering for the Seismic Upgrade of the Royal Columbian Hospital Health Care Centre (building engineering category);
Urban Systems Ltd. for the Town of Golden Sewage Treatment and Disposal Upgrade (municipal engineering);
Urban Systems, with Golder Associates and Sandwell Engineering and nhc, for the Yoho Bridge and Approaches (transportation);
Knight Piesold, with Amnis Engineering, for Green power McNair Creek Hydroelectric Project;
IBI Group for the Cross-border Advanced Traveller Information System, at Southbound Hwy 99 and 15.

Awards of Merit went to:
MCW Consultants for the UBC Life Sciences Centre;
Stantec Consulting with Glotman Simpson Group, the RADA Group and Keen Engineering for the BC Cancer Research Centre;
Urban Systems for the Duprez Ravine Stormwater Bypass;
McElhanney Consulting Services for the Capilano Treetops Adventure;
Sandwell Engineering for the Port of Long Beach Pier G Upgrade;
Sandwell Engineering Services for the Mill Equipment for Offsite Chipping;
Golder Associates for the David Avenue Connector Habitat Compensation.

The awards were presented at a gala evening at the Westin Bayshore resort on March 5.
