News Round-Up: Stantec, MMM, SNC-Lavalin, Golder, Morrison Hershfield

Stantec is helping to make Edmonton’s City Hall more efficient. The building, which opened approximately 20 years ago, is having its lighting and HVAC systems upgraded.

MMM Group and Golder Associates are part of the ACS Dragados-led consortium that has signed a P3 pre-development agreement to design, build, finance, operate and maintain a new 7-mile long bridge over the Currituck Sound in North Carolina. MMM is doing the project with its U.S. partner as Lochner-MMM Partnership .

SNC-Lavalin has acquired, VST Ingenieros Ltda, a leading Chilean consulting engineering firm specializing in mining geotechnical work, especially tailings disposal.  VST is based in Santiago and has 50 employees.

Golder Associates has opened a new office in Winnipeg to accommodate its expanded staff numbers. Since opening its doors six years ago, the Winnipeg office has grown from three to 20. The new home is at 25 Scurfield Boulevard, a few doors away from its previous location.

To celebrate Earth Day, Morrison Hershfield of Toronto released a new corporate Environmental and Sustainability Policy. In doing so, the company noted: “As an engineering and management firm, we have an extraordinary opportunity to have a significant and positive impact on the environment. We have the knowledge, skill and ability to make a difference. It is our intention that this policy [will] set in place lasting practices that will ensure a better environment for all.”
