Consulting Engineers of Alberta held its 2007 Showcase Awards on Friday, February 2 at the Calgary Stampede Roundup Centre.
In attendance were the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, His Honour Norman L. Kwong, and Her Honour Mrs. Mary Kwong. They presented the first Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Distinguished Achievement to Mr. Ron Triffo.
The 2007 Showcase award-winning firms and 11 projects that won Awards of Excellence are as follows:
h A.D. Williams Engineering, “Long Term Power Generation Planning Study” (natural resources, mining, industrial).
h Associated Engineering Alberta, “Mill Creek Roper Pond” (sustainable design).
h BPTEC-DNW Engineering, “Yellowhead Trail, 156th Street Interchange” (transportation infrastructure).
h Golder Associates, “Developmental Impact of Canadian Technologies, Yellow River Water Resources & Flood Management Optimization” (international).
h SNC-Lavalin, “ROM Bridge Strengthening” (water resources and energy production).
h Stantec Consulting, “Easthill Stormwater Infrastructure Improvements” (environmental), “National Institute for Nanotechnology” (project management), and “Mount Royal College Learning Centre” (building engineering).
h UMA Engineering, “Northwest Regional Utility Study” (project management), and “Village at Griesbach Stages 1-4 Engineering and Landscape Architecture” (community development).
h Urban Systems, “People Development Program” (community outreach and in-house initiatives).
Awards of Merit went to 18 projects by the following firms: A.D. Williams, Associated Engineering, Bel-MK Engineering, Cohos Evamy, Earth Tech (Canada), EBA Engineering, ISL Engineering & Land Services, Read Jones Christoffersen, Stantec Consulting and UMA Engineering.
