Eight consulting engineering firms tops in Alberta Awards

Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA) announced the winners of the 2011 Showcase Awards on Friday, February 4th.  Presented at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, the awards were the 14th annual event.

Glen Campbell, P.Eng. of AECOM won the Harold L. Morrison rising Young Professional Award.  Al MacDonald, P.Eng. was given the 2011 Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Distinguished Achievement, presented by the Honourable Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, Donald S. Ethell.

Awards of excellence went to the following firms and projects:

AECOM Canada – Manitoba Hydro (sustainable design)

AECOM Canada – XL Foods/Nilsson Brothers, various engineering services (natural resources, mining, industrial)

Associated Engineering – Fire Training Runoff Water Treatment and Reuse at Lakeland College Emergency Training Centre

CH2M HILL Canada – Southeast and West LRT Planning Studies, Edmonton (studies, software, special services)

EBA, A Tetra Tech Company – Ice Platform in Siberia, design, construction and monitoring (international);

ISL Engineering and Land Services and CH2M HILL Canada – G37 Interchange, Stage 1 Detour, Calgary (project management);

ISL Engineering and Land Services and Golder Associates – Okotoks 32 Street Crossing (water resources & energy production);

KTA Structural Engineers – Montrose Cultural Centre, Grande Prairie (small firm, big impact);

Stantec Consulting – Edmonton Waste Management Centre Integrated Processing and Transfer Facility, Phase 1 & 2 (building engineering);

Stantec Consulting – North Lethbridge Regional Park Public Engagement and Needs Assessment Study (community development).
