Acres International becomes Hatch Acres

The acquisition of Acres International by Hatch has entered a further phase with the announcement this week of a change of name. From now on Acres International will be known as Hatch Acres. The original name will be retired in Canada and the U.S. once current projects have been completed.
Both consulting engineering companies are employee-owned and have a long and celebrated history in Canada.
Acres, which was founded in 1924 by Dr. Henry Acres and grew its reputation on hydroelectric power, is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Hatch of Mississauga. Hatch-Acres has 900 employees with principal offices in Calgary, Niagara Falls and Oakville.
Hatch is a 50-year old Canadian company with 6,000 employees and 80 offices worldwide. It built its business by engineering for the Toronto Transit Commission and the steel industries of Ontario and Quebec. Founding partners of Hatch are Gerry Hatch, Ted Noskiewicz and Archie Lamont. Hatch is a successor company to W.S. Atkins & Associates, which Hatch bought in 1955.
