Stantec has signed a letter of intent to acquire QuadraTec Inc., a 50-person mechanical-electrical consulting company located in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. QuadraTec was incorporated in 1993. Its clients include Bell Alliant, Fortis, Sobey’s and Serco.

Amnis Engineering of Vancouver has joined HDR Corporation, the Canadian arm of parent company HDR, Inc. Amnis specializes in hydropower and water resources infrastructure.  HDR has 7,800 employees worldwide, with around 250 in Canada, distributed at 13 locations.

SNC-Lavalin of Montreal has acquired Itansuca Proyectos de Ingenieria S.A. of Columbia. The Columbian engineering company has 1,000 employees and a head office in Bogota. It specializes in energy, project management and electro-mechanical installations. SNC-Lavalin now has 1,150 employees in Columbia, and nearly 24,000 worldwide.

CH2M HILL has been named to the 2011 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list for the fifth time.
