GENIVAR, based in Montreal, has been added to the Standard & Poor TSX Composite Index. The index includes only the stock prices of the largest companies on the Toronto Sock Exchange, as measured by market capitalization.

“Being included in the S&P/TSX Composite Index is a tremendous recognition of GENIVAR’s progress over the past few years,” said Pierre Shoiry, Genivar’s president and chief executive officer. “We are pleased with this latest milestone and look forward to the increased visibility it will provide in the capital markets.”

The company will start to be included in the list on September 24.

BBA of Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec has opened an office in Toronto. This is the expanding company’s second location in Ontario following the opening of an office in Timmins last fall. BBA’s special expertise is in energy, mining and metals, oil, gas and chemicals. In business for 30 years, the company has over 850 employees across Canada. “With increased mining activities in Ontario and the required investments in the province’s energy infrastructure, we felt that the time was right to open an office in Toronto,” said Steeve Fiset, president and chief executive officer at BBA.

Associated Engineering has added Ruben Arellano as practice leader for its district energy section. He is based in the company’s Burnaby Office. Rachel Bolongaro has also joined the firm’s energy team as a project manager and renewable energy specialist. Both individuals are involved with Geoexchange BC, with Arellano currently chair of the organization.

ISL Engineering and Land Services of Edmonton has announced that Hassan Shaheen is appointed to its board of directors. Shaheen joined ISL in 2003 as general manager of transportation planning.
