In St. Catharines, southwest Ontario, the Regional Municipality of Niagara is building a new bridge to connect the downtown with the city’s west side.

The new Burgoyne Bridge across Twelve Mile Creek Valley and Highway 406 is a  high-level 333-metre long, multi-span, twin-deck steel box girder structure, which includes a unique 125-metre main span supported by a single central steel arch. Parsons (Delcan originally) are the engineers. Golder Associates are the geotechnical engineers.

The new bridge is aligned as close as possible to the existing two-lane 1915 bridge which connects from St. Paul Street downtown to the city’s west side. The existing bridge will be dismantled.
