Sensor company Sick and measurement and automation technology specialist Endress+Hauser have signed a joint memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership in process automation.

Intensifying their current level of professional co-operation, the two companies aim to help customers improve energy and resource efficiency. The partnership would expand Endress+Hausesr’s product portfolio with Sick’s process analysis and gas flow measurement engineering—which is deployed in waste incineration facilities, power plants, steel works, oil and gas facilities and cement plants—while a new joint venture (JV) would further develop such technology.

In the past, the companies have worked together on an order, project and customer basis. Now, however, the sales and service teams for Sick’s process automation business segment will become part of Endress+Hauser’s global sales network.

Based on the MoU, both companies are conducting due diligence. A contract is expected to be signed in early 2024 and the closing of the transaction is scheduled for the middle of that year.
