Stantec has named Rich Allen as a new chief operating officer, effective January, 2010. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Allen is currently a senior vice president and manager of Stantec’s operations in the eastern half of the U.S. where he has more than tripled Stantec’s presence, expanding into New York City, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois and other areas.
Mr. Allen did graduate research at McGill University after graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in civil engineering, He has a master of science degree from the University of Washington and went on to practice in water and wastewater, and transmission projects.
He then practised law for 17 years in Boston, serving as a partner with Gadsby Hannah, LLP.
He is a member of the bar for the United States Supreme court and has written extensively on engineering and construction law.
Allen takes over the role from Mark Jackson who will be retiring at the end of the year
