Associated Engineering, whose headquarters are in Edmonton, announced it has “merged” with Summit Environmental Consultants, a B.C. environmental consulting engineering firm that was formed in 1994.

The two companies have had a working relationship for many years on several major projects.

Summit has a staff of almost 40, and has an office in Calgary as well as B.C. Its expertise is in the areas of hydrology, hydrogeology, geomorphology, geology, soil science, plant science, wildlife biology, limnology, fisheries biology, aquatic toxicology, forestry, environmental planning, and GIS. The two firms say these services complement Associated Engineering’s multi-disciplinary engineering services in the water, environmental, civil infrastructure, transportation, renewable energy, and asset management markets.

Associated Engineering is one of Canada’s largest multi-disciplinary, employee owned, consulting engineering firms, with 700 staff prior to this merger. The company will now have 16 offices across Canada located in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario.

Kerry Rudd, president and CEO of Associated Engineering, said: “Our relationship with Summit has gained in strength over the years…. The synergies between our two companies are very apparent.” Summit, whose president is Brian Guy, will operate under its own name as a wholly owned subsidiary of Associated Engineering Group. The existing management team will continue to manage the company.
