ACEC-Sask Organizes Tour of new Regina ByPass

The Bypass project consists of over 60km of new four-lane highway, 20km of highway rehabilitation, extensive service roads, 12 interchanges, 33 new bridges, 8 railway grade separations, drainage systems, and an Intelligent Transportation System.
As part of the national ACEC-Canada ‘Bring an MP to Work’ program, the Saskatchewan chapter (ACEC-SK) rented a bus and pulled up to the provincial legislature to take politicians on a tour of the Regina Bypass project, the largest transportation project in the province’s history.
The day started with remarks from Lori Carr, Minister of Highways and Infrastructure for the province and Tom Lukiwski, federal member of parliament for Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan. Paul Walsh, past chair of ACEC-SK also spoke before leaving for the tour.

Nine ACEC-SK member firms were involved in the project and had representatives present during the event.
“Having an elected official visit this project showcases the contributions that Saskatchewan consulting engineers are making to the social, economic and environmental quality of life in our province” said Walsh in a media release.
“The ‘Bring an MP to Work’ program is a truly unique opportunity to take part in, not only does it raise the visibility of a firm both in the community and nationally, but it also raises the industry’s profile with decision makers, which in turn highlights the importance of consulting engineers to a successful community,” added John Gamble, president & CEO of ACEC-Canada.
