A new organization has been formed by companies that specialize in “performance based solutions” for energy retrofits. The founding members of the Energy Services Association of Canada (ESAC) are Ainsworth, Ameresco, Direct Energy, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, MCW Custom Energy Solutions, Siemens and Trane. The first president of the association is Peter Love, Ontario’s former Chief Energy Conservation Officer.

Energy services companies offer building owners the chance to upgrade their equipment and allow them to fund the new installations over time through guaranteed energy and operational savings.

The new association has been formed “to actively promote government policies and regulatory support for greater use of guaranteed performance based solutions to upgrade Canada’s aging infrastructure.”

ESAC has prepared case studies of performance based energy solutions across Canada and says that together the members are responsible for more than 90% of the $450 million energy performance business.
