Dessau, based in Montreal, has acquired two Ontario firms. One is in London, Ontario: Atkinson, Davies Inc. works in geotechnical and environmental engineering. The other, Premier/Levaque, is based in Milton and specializes in roofing and building envelope services.  With 30 employees between them, the two firms will become part of LVM, a Dessau subsidiary that has 1,300 people and provides geotechnical, materials and environmental engineering.

Jean-Pierre Sauriol, President and Chief Executive Officer at Dessau, said: “We are very pleased to further our growth in Ontario. The acquisition of these two companies strengthens our presence in the province, and their expertise enhances our service offering. Dessau expects to continue in this direction in the new year with acquisitions elsewhere in Canada and abroad.”

Another Quebec giant, SNC-Lavalin, has acquired Hydrosult of Montreal. Hydrosult has been operating internationally for 30 years, providing services in the water sector. Ismail Najjar, Hydrosult’s former president and owner, is now Vice President, Water Resources of SNC-Lavalin’s Environment Division. Mr. Najjar is a founding member and past governor of both the World Water Council and the Arab Water council, and past director of the International Water Resources Association.

B+H, one of Canada’s largest architectural companies, has acquired Bunting Coady Architects of Vancouver. Bunting Coady designed the first LEED Gold building in Canada and continues to practise green design.
