The new Fluke 2052 Advanced and 2062 Advanced Pro wire tracers are designed to safely and accurately troubleshoot energized and de-energized wires in commercial, industrial and residential buildings up to CAT IV 1,600 V, reportedly the highest protection available on any wire tracer.

While locating wires and identifying circuits and breakers, the 2052 and 2062 can protect users from transient overvoltage spikes up to 8,000 V, which can occur in utility and industrial facilities, including plants, factories and hospitals.

A tip sensor provides an audible tone when locating wires. The 2062 also features patented Smart Sensor technology, which displays energized wires within walls, floors and ceilings on a high-resolution 3.5-in. colour display, thus helping visualize the wires’ orientation and eliminating guesswork.

Both models are available in kits that come with everything required to start tracing wires and circuits, including test leads, test probes, blade and round outlet adapters and alligator clips to connect transmitters to electrical systems. In situations where a direct connection to a bare conductor is not available, the included i400 AC Current Clamp can be used with the ‘loop’ mode to induce a boosted 6-kHz signal through the insulation. The kit also includes batteries and a hard carrying case.
