An Overview of the Building Act

The Building Act is B.C.’s first act dedicated just to building and construction. Passed in spring 2015, the act introduces three main changes aimed at streamlining and modernizing B.C.’s building regulatory system. Learn about the changes and how they’ll affect you and others working in the building construction sector.

About the speaker:

Carolyn Gisborne is a Senior Policy Analyst with the Building and Safety Standards Branch. She joined the Branch after completing her Masters in Urban Studies at Simon Fraser University, and has worked on projects including updating the solar hot water ready regulation, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and drafting regulations under the Building Act. Outside of work, Carolyn takes a strong interest in both local and national urban issues and volunteers as chair of her neighbourhood land use committee.
