Gartner Lee, a well known Canadian consulting company established in 1973, has been acquired by AECOM Technology Corporation.
Gartner Lee specializes in environmental and geoscience engineering, and has its headquarters in Markham, Ontario. It has 330 employees in 16 offices across Canada. They include offices in Halifax and Montreal in the east, several in southern Ontario, and in Calgary, Vancouver, Yellowknife and Whitehorse in the north.
AECOM is an international firm providing professional and management services. It has more than 31,000 employees and is listed on the New York stock exchange. It also owns the large Canadian operations of UMA Engineering, a Saskatchewan-born company with its present head office in Burnaby, B.C. And just in August, AECOM bought KMK Consultants of Brampton, Ontario. With the acquisition of Gartner Lee, Aecom has more than 1,600 professionals in Canada.
John M. Dionisio, Aecom president and chief executive officer, said in a release that the acquisition was to enhance the company’s multi-disciplinary operations in the Canadian market, and bolster its environmental services practice.
Grant Anderson, the president of Gartner Lee, said: “This is an exciting time for Gartner Lee. Aecom’s broad pool of expertise and resources from similar and related practices worldwide will be an asset to the solutions we deliver to our clients.”
