Earth Tech has been selected by Calgary to be the prime consultant for expanding its Light Rail Transit (LRT) system south. This is the second phase of the south extension which will take the line 1.8 miles from Fish Creek-Lacombe station to end near the city’s southern limit.
Earth Tech’s services on the project will include the design and construction of earthwork grading, utilities, trackwork, grade crossings, fencing and miscellaneous structures. The trackworks portion of the project is valued at over $6 million. Construction of the extension will take place between June 2002 and June 2004.
Calgary’s LRT system has been in place for over 20 years, and presently extends 18 miles. Earth Tech recently completed the first phase of the south corridor by extending it 2.5 miles from Anderson Station to Fish Creek-Lacombe.
Earth Tech has its headquarters in Long Beach, California and employs 9,000 people world-wide. The company has absorbed several Canadian senior consulting engineering firms in the past two or three years including Reid Crowther and Procter & Redfern.
