According to ZweigWhite, design firms’ data and file storage needs have hit a new record. The company’s 2007 Information Technology Survey of Architecture, Engineering, Planning & Environmental Consulting Firms, found that firms now have a median of 15.4 gigabytes of online disk storage space per employee. A quarter of the surveyed firms have at least 30 gigabytes per person.
As well, the respondents to the survey indicated that data storage and file management is their biggest information technology challenge. They cited difficulties in managing large project files, images and digital photos. Other challenges included training for employees, and the difficulty of keeping up with changing technologies.
