Infinity Engineering Group is the engineer for Surespan Construction working on a new 360-metre tunnel that will pass under several railway lines in downtown Winnipeg. The tunnel is part of a new bus rapid transit corridor that passes under the CN railway yard and seven rail tracks. Infinity value engineered an innovative temporary shored trench for the tunnel construction that reduced the construction time and cost.

With Geopacific as geotechnical consultant, Infinity assessed that the pressure in a 23 degree wedge at the end of the trench could be safely dissipated into the clay from the sheet pile by shear. This new approach eliminated the need for longitudinal shoring struts or a coffer-dam style closed box which would have been approximately 30 m long.
