Jeanette Southwood, P.Eng., is vice-president (VP) of corporate affairs and strategic partnerships for Engineers Canada, the national organization of the 12 engineering regulators that license Canada’s more than 300,000 members of the engineering profession. She previously led the Canadian urban development and infrastructure sector and global sustainable cities teams at Golder, where she was the first Black woman to be appointed to the senior leadership position of principal globally.In this episode, Canadian Consulting Engineer editor Peter Saunders speaks with Jeanette about her background in consulting engineering, the gender-based challenges that continue to this day and her organization’s ongoing efforts to increase the number of licensed women engineers across Canada.
