Grinnell Supply Sales Company is to be known as Mueller Flow Control. The Toronto-based company has become a division of Mueller Holdings Group which was formed last August. Mueller Flow Control will continue to focus on mechanical and industrial fire sprinklers and valves across Canada.

Simplex and Johnson Controls have agreed to collaborate on projects for clients who want a total building controls system. Johnson Controls of Wisconsin produces automated building and facility controls for heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, lighting, etc. It will team up with Simplex when clients request a building control package that includes fire protection systems, and Simplex of Massachusetts will execute the design, manufacture and delivery of the protection systems.

Simplex has also entered a technology partnering agreement with Panasonic Security and Digital Imaging Company’s Security Systems Group for designing and developing new CCTV systems used for building security.

Also Simplex has just released an Ethernet version of the Intelligent System Controller for clients who want to advance the capabilities of an NT3400 Security Management Information System.

Fire Lite Alarms/Notifier, the producer of fire alarms and early detection systems, was purchased by Honeywell in February. Fire Lite/Notifier will now be part of a newly created Safety and Security Division within Honeywell’s Home and Building Control business. The purchased company headquarters will remain in Connecticut.

Fire Lite Alarms/Notifier recently also expanded its Toronto operation, moving from a 8,000 s.f. facility to a 34,000 s.f. space in Woodbridge. It started manufacturing in Toronto in 1998 and has an office in Vancouver.

Tests at the Johns Manville fire testing facility in Vancouver have examined the combination of Johns Manville’s Firetemp firestopping products with Isolatek’s Cafco type 300 fireproofing spray to ensure the combination gives effective fire protection. The tests were witnessed by Underwriters Laboratories and conducted per ASTM E-814. They were done on behalf of a contractor for a head-of-wall detail on a large project in Las Vegas.
