The university website for Generation-E is now live and online!

Making the transition from academic life to the work world can be tremendously challenging. Students struggle to make the career choices that best suit their skills and interests, yet our research indicates that they often feel there is little support available.

That’s where Generation-E comes in. This partnership of the ACEC, the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers, the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students, Human Resources Development Canada, private engineering firms, and other engineering industry stakeholders has developed a university component to the successful Generation-E high school campaign launched last year.

The online resource for university students (www.generation-e.ca) features:

the insights of practising engineers on career challenges and rewards;

information about the advantages of the P.Eng. / ing. licence;

an overview of the important interpersonal, business and communications skills students need as practising engineers; and

strategies they can adopt to develop those skills while still in school–and gain a competitive advantage.

The true measure of this campaign’s success will be students making well-informed career decisions. To that end, we invite you to share this information — and the Generation-E web address — with the students you meet in the course of your business. Encourage them to take advantage of this resource.

We are excited about this next phase of Generation-E, as we work to equip today’s university engineering students with the tools and skills they’ll need to make the best possible start following graduation.
