ISISThe new wharf is the first marine structure in Canada built with glass fibre reinforced polymers and a steel-free deck. The town had no capital funds to restore its harbour, so it formed an alliance with ISIS Canada which is developing this technology. The non-corroding reinforcing is ideal for the marine environment and has a life expectancy of 60-80 years.
