Early in September, ACEC entered into a reciprocal agreement with Montreal-based Infoconstruction.com, an industry-specific data distribution firm whose primary product is Canada’s most comprehensive database on CD-ROM aimed at the construction industry. Professionals, contractors, product manufacturers and distributors, light and heavy equipment suppliers, tools, and software are all represented.

All ACEC members who specialize in one or more area of the construction sector receive a free listing under the “Engineering” banner, as well as a free copy of the CD-ROM, a $200 value. The listing, which operates much in the same way as with ACEC’s own CD-ROM Directory, is searchable by geographic area, specialization, name, etc. Listed members also take advantage of Infoconstruction.com’s arrangement with Chapters Books to distribute the CD across Canada in exchange for the inclusion of a searchable listing of more than 10,000 construction-related Chapters titles available for direct Internet purchase.

In exchange, ACEC receives free promotion of the membership and of its own services by way of the CD’s distribution to listed firms and actual users, as well as through Chapters’ own network.
