Wayne Bowes, P.Eng. of Delcan in Ottawa is the first Canadian president of FIDIC, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers. Bowes will hold the post for two years. He is also director and treasurer of the Transportation Association of Canada, a past president of Consulting Engineers of Alberta, and past president of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada (1991-92).
The Engineering Institute of Canada has elected its first female president. Linda Weaver, P.Eng. is chief technical officer of TecKnowledge Healthcare Systems of Halifax, and a past-president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of Canada (IEEE).
Micheline Bouchard, ing., president and CEO of Motorola Canada Ltd., was appointed the first female president of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in May.
