The Supreme Court of Quebec has rejected an appeal by Microsoft Canada to allow graduates of its training courses to refer to themselves as “systems engineers.”
The decision made on 22 June 2005 by Judge Carol Cohen upheld the judgement of Judge Claude Millette of the Quebec Court made in April 2004.
M. Gaetan Samson, ing., president of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ), said that the judgement demonstrated clearly that the title of engineer, used alone or with qualifications, is reserved exclusively for its members.
