The June-July issue of Canadian Consulting Engineer is now posted on-line. Featured projects include the restoration of 100-year hydroelectric dams in Sherbrooke, Quebec by SM Group. We also report on two promising new approaches for remediating industrial and environmental waste using nature’s own methods.
In another feature, Kevin Hydes of Keen Engineering speaks out and sets the “1000-Tonne Challenge” to engineers. He wants them to make a more determined and concerted effort to reduce greenhouse gases emitted from buildings, and he says that engineering education must change to produce more building engineers with the necessary sustainable design skills.
In “Whistleblowers,” Professor Marc Rosen suggests that recent legislation provides a blueprint for protecting the ethical engineer.
