AMEC of Oakville has won a major engineering services contract to help develop the Phoenix Gold Mine in Nevada for Newmont USA Limited.
The contract, for an undisclosed sum, covers engineering procurement and construction management services. The Phoenix project is 12 miles south of the town of Battle Mountain in north-central Nevada. The mine is expected to produce approximately 400,000-450,000 ounces of gold per year and 18-20 million pounds of copper.

N.D. Lea Engineers and Planners have been awarded a contract to oversee the public consultation process and ongoing redevelopment of a former hospital in Brandon, Manitoba. A joint provincial-municiipal committee selected N.D. Lea from six submissions to help redevelop the Brandon Mental Health Centre. As the facilitator, N.D. Lea will work to having development prpoposals for the site by the fall.
The area to be developed is a 113-year old property with four buildings on 160 acres, and more than 500 acres of adjacent undeveloped crown land.
