AMEC’s Earth and Environmental division has been chosen by the U.S. General Service Administration to help it carry out a broad spectrum of energy conservation projects for federal buildings. AMEC was hired under a “blanket purchase agreement” worth US $500 million and with an option to renew for four years, based on performance. The work will involve energy audits and other areas such as water conservation in regions throughout the U.S.

Associated Engineering has announced two appointments. Ed Bird, P.Eng. has been made Vice-President and Risk Manager, and Lianna Mah, P.Eng. is now Vice President, Business Development.

SNC-Lavalin has signed a contract to replace steam generators at the Prairie Island nuclear generating plant in Welch, Minnesota. The Unit #2 generators date from 1974 and are to be replaced with larger capacity ones by 2013. SNC-Lavalin’s contract is with Xcel Energy.

In January AECOM announced that Mario Peloquin will be the company’s new Transit Leader for Canada. Peloquin has 25 years in the railway, public transit and transportation industries, most recently as director of mobility at Siemens Canada
