A new stadium for the CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers has started construction. The 33,000-seat stadium is being built at the University of Manitoba campus and will also host the university’s Bison football team. Creswin Properties owned by Winnipeg businessman David Asper is building the stadium, and the company has also been given rights to redevelop Polo Park, the site of the old stadium.
The $115-million new stadium will have an inflatable roof to cover 80% of the seats, and will have 40 private suites, retail concessions, training facilities and a Hall of Fame.
Architects are Raymond S.C. Wan. Consulting engineers are Stantec (civil), Crosier Kilgour & Partners (structural) and SMS Engineering (mechanical-electrical).
