Read Jones Christoffersen (Chester Yung) were the structural engineers, and Spline Group (Abhi Bhogal) were the mechanical-electrical engineers, for the Northern Dancer Pavilion at the Canadian Film Centre. Ken Fukushima Architecture was design architect and IBI Group was architect of record. The new 6,500-sq. ft. pavilion is an addition to the residential film school which is located in the Windfields Estates near Lake Simcoe, Ontario. It will increase the film centre’s studio and rehearsal space as well as provide a venue for events.

Pasquin St-Jean and associates are the structural engineers and Bouthillette Parizeau are the mechanical-electrical engineers for the expansion and renovations at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre Tehsakotitsen:tha. The hospital serves the Mohawk community of Kahnawake near Montreal. The expansion will add 7,300 square metres of new construction, for a total of 10,200 square metres. Besides adding new beds, the changes will allow the hospital to offer in-house radiology and traditional healing services. The project is due to go out for tender in October and has a budget of $28.6-million.

David Fox has joined structural engineering firm Entuitive. With over 20 years’ of experience, he is an associate of the company and based in Toronto.

Jeannette Southwood of Golder’s Ottawa office has been named a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineers. At Golder she is urban development and infrastructure sector leader for Canada, as well as global sustainable cities leader. Induction as a Fellow of the CAE is one of the highest professional honours accorded to an engineer.
