In a sharp editorial in the April newsletter of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Quebec (AICQ), association president Johanne Desrochers points out that consulting firms in Quebec have fallen into a “guerre de prix” (price war) in finding work with municipal clients. She says that offering services at 30%, 40% and even 70% discounts from the minimum recommended fee is unworthy of the profession and suggests that in the long term it could result in compromising the quality of service.
