While other groups were out protesting sales tax increases and spending cuts to health care after the Quebec Minister of Finance released its budget for 2010-2011 on March 30, the Quebec Construction Association (ACQ) expressed its satisfaction with the document.
Luc Bourgoin, an economist with ACQ, said the association was pleased that the government had maintained its commitment to the infrastructure spending program, with investments of $9.1 billion in 2010-11. This amount is an increase of $650 million over previous announcements.
The association also said it was happy that the Quebec government had allotted $30 million more to fight tax evasion in the construction industry’s black market.
