Allen Williams, P.Eng. is New ACEC Chair

At the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada’s Annual General Meeting in June, Mr. Allen D. Williams, P.Eng. was confirmed as ACEC Chair for 2004/2005. Allen has extensive experience in his profession of mechanical engineering and related fields. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in 1965, he spent several years as a petroleum production engineer for an oil company active in a heavy oil field, then in 1969 joined a company specializing in the application of pipe coatings. In 1971, Allen joined a major consulting firm and later became the Chief Engineer.

In May 1978, A.D. Williams Engineering Inc. was formed. The firm began with mechanical engineering and forensic science services. Over the course of the next decade, Allen expanded the firm to include civil, structural, electrical, geotechnical, building sciences, environmental, and materials testing services. A.D. Williams now has offices in Yellowknife, Calgary and Winnipeg, as well as the head office in Edmonton. In 1999, Allen decided to expand the ownership group to include eight senior employees who would become principal shareholders. Today, the firm has share offerings available to all employees.

Allen is an outdoor enthusiast and particularly enjoys travelling to the Northwest Territories. His keen interest in the North motivated him to concentrate on providing engineering services to the area, where the government of the Northwest Territories officially recognized A.D. Williams Engineering as a “Northern Consultant.” Allen is also a licensed pilot who will often fly staff and clients to sites throughout the Prairies, Alberta, British Columbia and northern Canada.
