Newfoundland announces $38.8 million for municipal infrastructure

Through these investments, a wide variety of waterworks and road improvement projects have been approved.

The Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador has announced $38.8 million for projects that will support significant improvements in municipal infrastructure.

The money is being allocated under the Small Communities Fund and provincial Municipal Capital Works program.

Approximately $29.3 million has been allocated for 77 projects under the Small Communities Fund for municipal infrastructure projects. The provincial share in these projects will be $17.4 million and the federal share is $11.9 million.

Through these investments, a wide variety of waterworks and road improvement projects have been approved, including:

  • The Town of Botwood’s sewage system upgrades;
  • The Town of Stephenville’s upgrades to its water and sewer system;
  • The Town of Paradise’s upgrades to its road system; and

The other $9.5 million has been allocated for 28 communities under the provincial Municipal Capital Works program.
