The Province of British Columbia has issued a request for expressions of interest from architects and engineers for  deas for the design and building of the world’s tallest multi-use wood building.

The Wood Innovation and Design Centre is to be located in Prince George, B.C., a hub of the province’s forest industry.  The centre will be located on the site of the Prince George Hotel in the town, and  it will be tied into a district energy system.

The University of Northern B.C. is considering using the building to house its future engineering program and for a new research chair on tall wood construction. The remaining space in the building will be available for lease for private sector  retail, commercial or housing uses.

The request for expressions of interest is also asking for ideas for “procurement attributes.”
