Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have issued two Request for Qualifications (RFQs) for the design, build and finance of new Regional Express Rail (RER) and Smart Track Stations and Off-Corridor projects.

The RFQs scope of work includes:

  • New station buildings or pavilions
  • Trackbed and grading
  • Platforms
  • New parking
  • Pedestrian access (tunnel or overpass)
  • Public realm improvements

The RFQs are the first step in the procurement process to select a team to deliver the projects. Project teams with the relevant design, construction experience and financial capacity to undertake projects of this size and complexity will be prequalified. Teams that qualify will be invited to respond to an RFP in winter 2018/2019. Interested companies must register with www.merx.com to download the RFQ.

“Regional Express Rail (RER) Stations and Smart Track Stations are critical parts of our system-wide plan to improve GO Transit service. We continue our efforts to reduce travel times and add travel choices, increase transit ridership, and help manage congestion across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA),” said Bob Chiarelli, Minister of Infrastructure, in a media release.
