DIALOG was a co-winner in the city of Vancouver’s re:CONNECT Ideas Competition held in December. The competition was to explore creative ideas for the Georgia and Dunsmuir viaducts and Eastern Core areas of Vancouver.

DIALOG competed against more than 100 entries and was recognized with both an Award of Merit and a People’s Choice Award for its submission “Viaducts = Park.” The scheme proposed removing the Georgia and Dunsmuir viaducts and redesigning the Pacific and Expo boulevards.

The viaducts were reconstructed in their present form in the late 1960s. They were the first piece of a larger freeway system that was planned but never realized. The DIALOG proposal  redesigns the Pacific and Expo Boulevards with enhanced park space. It reconnects the eastside neighbourhoods to downtown and False Creek with elegant boulevards, monuments and museums.
