Hit with a high volume of applications, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities has had to suspend accepting new applications for its Green Municipal Fund for the time being.
The Fund’s website states: ” Due to the high demand we are currently experiencing in the areas of plans, studies and tests, as well as capital projects for energy, waste, water and transportation, we will no longer be accepting applications at this time. We will be providing information by July 31, 2011, as to when applications for capital projects in those sectors, as well as plans and studies can be submitted.”
However, the site says that applications related to brownfield projects are an exception and can continue to be submitted.
Through the Green Municipal Fund, the FCM provides funding and other assistance to municipal governments for projects that improve environmental performance and reduce green gas emissions.
Funding is allocated in five sectors: brownfields, energy, transportation, waste and water.
