Politicians were on hand on September 8 to open a GO Transit bus facility near Highway 404 in East Gwillimbury, northeast of Toronto. A design-build project of Buttcon, the facility has storage for 36 buses and service bays for fuelling, washing and repairs, as well as equipment rooms and staff facilities. Strasman Architects were the architect; civil and landscape design was by Exp Services, structural design was by Read Jones Christoffersen, and electrical and mechanical design was by MCW. LEED consultant was Provident Energy Management. The project cost a total of $20 million, with funding from the Canadian government and the government of Ontario, via Metrolinx.
