Smith + Andersen welcomes new associates

The company recently announced the appointment of four senior associates and six new associates.
Canada’s Smith + Andersen continues to grow and expand it offerings. The firm recently announced the appointment of six new associates and four new senior associates across offices in Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver.
The newest senior associates with the firm include:
Rafael Correa, B.Arch., is part of the lighting team in Toronto. Since graduating from the University FAAP (Brazil) in 1999, he has built a reputation for his creative lighting designs on projects in Brazil, the U.S., China and Canada.
Elaine Guenette, P.Eng., joined Smith + Andersen in 2007Â after graduating from the University of Waterloo in the field of mechanical engineering. Working in the Toronto office, Guenette has participated on a variety of projects including University of Waterloo Engineering V building and most recently the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus Environmental Science and Chemistry building.
Josephine Jordan, C.Tech., is part of the electrical team in Ottawa. Graduating from Algonquin College (2004), Jordan’s career has ranged from small fit-ups to large scale headquarters for the public and private sector projects. A member of LEED, her design decisions emphasize building sustainability and the reduction of energy consumption.
Chris McPherson, P.Eng., is a leader on the Toronto electrical team. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario (2003) and a LEED Green Associate, McPherson’s expertise has been critical on numerous public-sector projects; most notably he was the electrical project manager for the Humber River Hospital.
And the recently appointed associates include:
Hani Fadali, P.Eng., is part of the electrical team in Toronto, heading up the power systems group. A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Fadali has more than a decade of experience delivering projects in every market sector. He supplements the comprehensive services of the electrical team with vital assistance and expertise – supporting a fully-integrated design on all projects.
Maria Gallo, P.Eng., is a leader on the mechanical team in Toronto. A graduate of Concordia University, Gallo’s expertise in the field of tenant and office design has been honed through decades of experience. A LEED Green Associate, she delivers designs that directly target what the client both needs and wants.
Kevin Key, P.Eng., has been a Smith + Andersen team member for over 10 years. Part of Toronto’s mechanical team, Key balances the competing needs and challenges of projects. He has experience in the education, office, and sports and recreation market sectors, supporting the mechanical scope on projects across the country.
Bertha Lai, P.Eng., is a graduate of Ryerson University who has brought extensive experience with her to Smith + Andersen. A key part of the mechanical team in Toronto with healthcare experience and project management skills, Lai is a LEED AP with 13 years of industry experience.
James Manson, is part of the electrical team in Vancouver. A graduate of BCIT and a Red Seal construction electrician, Manson leverages more than a decade of industry experience in order to align client needs with the best resources and talent to deliver the best possible project.
Mike Mitani, P.Eng., has established himself as a team leader since joining Smith + Andersen’s Ottawa electrical team. Mitani is a LEED Green Associate with design and project management expertise, and he has supported the successful delivery of projects across Ontario.
