X marks the plate for heat-exchange efficiency

Xylem’s Bell & Gossett manufacturing business has added high-efficiency ‘X’ plates to enhance its new gasketed plate and frame heat exchanger (GPX) models P45, P55, P86 and P110.

Part of the Bell & Gossett’s ‘Building Better’ platform for modern, sustainable HVAC applications in commercial buildings, ‘X’ plate technology reportedly increases heat transfer thermal performance (and reduces surface area) by up to 20%, while reducing materials by up to 15%, enabling a more compact design compared to a traditional plate heat exchanger.

Options include a variety of corrugations, materials (304SS, 316SS or titanium plates) and nitrile or ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM) gaskets. The unique plate design generates high turbulence, resulting in high heat transfer coefficients.
