Thyssenkrupp Elevator Canada, headquartered in Toronto, has acquired Winnipeg Elevator Group (WEG), which modernizes, maintains and services elevators, escalators and other vertical transportation units across its region.
“For half a century, WEG has kept Winnipeg and surrounding communities up and running with a high level of service and professionalism,” says Blaine Coupal, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Elevator Canada. “This acquisition will strengthen our position in a key market and allow us to add experienced leaders and field personnel to our growing team.”
Indeed, all of WEG’s 23 employees and most of its owners will be retained and employed by Thyssenkrupp, which recently won a contract to modernize 12 elevators and service four additional elevators and two escalators at 201 Portage, Winnipeg’s tallest office tower.
