AX Fibreglass EnclosureRittal, based in Mississauga, Ont., is replacing its KS-series fibreglass enclosures with a new AX range, which can protect electrical components both indoors and outdoors.

The products uses the same system technology as Rittal’s sheet and stainless steel enclosures, which have sped up and simplified manufacturing for panels and switchgear. Their construction is reinforced with highly ultraviolet-resistant (UV-resistant) glass fibres and features an integrated rain protection strip on the upper and lower edges of the door to ensure reliability outdoors; indeed, they carry Underwriters Laboratories’ (UL‘s) F1 outdoor rating under the requirements of UL 746C, Standard for Polymeric Materials – Use in Electrical Equipment Evaluations.

Further, Class II insulation for up to 1,000 V AC increases personal protection up to IP66 or NEMA 4X, even when the enclosure is populated, as the interior insulation does not affect the encapsulated enclosure area, which is approved to UL 508A, Industrial Control Panels, and is rated to fire class V-0 under UL 94, Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances.

The new line includes 14 variants, ranging from 250 x 350 mm to 800 x 1,000 mm, with eight available with a viewing window and six without.
