Dallas, TX – (February 9, 2015) – Lennox highlighted its new VRF technology and Ultra Innovation to a record crowd of 62,000 contractors, engineers, distributors, facility managers and manufacturers during the 2015 AHR Expo, held January 26-28 in Chicago. Products showcased include Lennox’ new VRF technology featuring indoor, outdoor units and controls, Energence Ultra-High-Efficiency units, the Prodigy 2.0 unit controller, the Dave Lennox® Signature Collection XC 25/XP 25 AC/heat pumps and the SunSource Commercial Energy System.

Lennox VRF
Lennox® VRF (variable refrigerant flow) technology—the company’s latest business launch—offers systems that require less space, energy and structural modification than competing systems, providing a flexible, versatile solution ideal for a wide range of buildings, workplaces, offices and retail environments. Widely used throughout Europe and Asia, VRF technology is expected to show double-digit growth rates over the next five years. By offering a building the ability to create localized comfort with independent temperature control, VRF can help every occupant enjoy a perfectly heated, cooled and humidified area, making customization easy and efficient. Plus, due to its ability to spread the load throughout the entire building structure, VRF can provide power- and cost-saving advantages. Finally, Lennox VRF is the only VRF solution that includes the expertise and support of a professional who knows the equipment inside and out, and are always available for advice and consultation.

Energence ultra-high-efficiency units
Lennox’ Energence ultra-high-efficiency rooftop units are the industry’s most efficient, lightest and quietest rooftop units in its class*, offering unmatched intelligence. These models combine the highest efficiency available on the market with the newly enhanced intelligent Prodigy Control System to achieve a low total cost of ownership. Designed to help buildings qualify for LEED® points, as well as local utility rebates, the ultra-efficient Energence rooftop unit is rated up to 21.5 IEER and 13.9 EER. It helps reduce structural engineering costs by being up to 42% lighter weight than competitive units in its class. For many applications, low noise units are a necessity, especially in dense urban areas with stringent sound codes. The Energence ultra-high-efficiency units are once again leading the industry with outdoor sound ratings as low as 81 dBA, providing customers with the ideal solution for quiet applications.

Dave Lennox Signature Collection XC25/XP25
With industry-leading efficiencies up to 26 SEER**, the Dave Lennox Signature Collection XC25/XP25 offers users significant savings on utility costs and Precise Comfort® technology that maintains a consistent temperature by making tiny, ongoing adjustments to its output throughout the day. Plus, SilentComfort™ technology makes the XC25 up to 50 percent quieter than a standard air conditioner.*** Offering efficiencies up to 23.5 SEER and 10.20 HSPF, the XP25 can help homeowners save hundreds of dollars a year compared to a standard heat pump.****

Prodigy 2.0 unit controller
Standard on all Lennox Energence rooftop units, the Prodigy Control System is an incredibly flexible and intelligent control system designed to provide reliable operation, maximum efficiency and comfort. Its built-in and newly enhanced Prodigy 2.0 unit controller is designed with a more intuitive interface that makes setup, troubleshooting and servicing easier than ever before with an easy-to-navigate 4-line text display. It also offers more than 250 parameters for customizing comfort in building spaces and over 100 diagnostic fault codes to detect operating issues. A new Prodigy app—available as a free download for any smartphone via iTunes and Google play—speeds up servicing by offering on-the-spot access to helpful resources, such as step-by-step troubleshooting guides, instructional videos, product and technical FAQs and related technical documents from lennoxcommercial.com. Finally, the Prodigy 2.0 unit controller integrates easily with major automation protocols BACnet and LonTalk®.

SunSource Commercial Energy System
The industry’s first and only solution to integrate directly with solar power, the SunSource Commercial Energy System works exclusively with the Energence premium rooftop unit product line to provide effective efficiency levels of up to 34 SEER, 43 IEER and beyond.*****

*7.5- to 12.5-ton units listed in the AHRI ratings directory and available manufacturer data as of January 2015..
**Efficiency claim based on comparison of air conditioning and heat pump products’ SEER as published in AHRI (January 2013). Actual system combination efficiency may vary; consult a Lennox Dealer or AHRI for exact system efficiencies. Precision claim based on the cooling capacity range of the XC/XP25-036 units as compared to equivalent-sized competitive variable capacity compressor units.
***Sound Rating Number according to ANSI/AHRI Standard 270-2008. “SRN” is the overall A-Weighted Sound Power Level, (LWA), dB (100 Hz to 10,000Hx). Sound information based on 3-ton models. Standard system is a 13 ACX with a 76 dB sound rating.
*****This chart compares the 5-year savings you can expect from a 18.20 SEER/9.70 HSPF heat pump vs. existing equipment with a 10.00 SEER/6.80 HSPF rating and industry0standard equipment with a 13.00 SEER/7.70 HSPF rating. The region used to calculate household fuel and utility costs reflect a cross-section of cities in the U.S. In addition to geography, cooling costs are based on 3-ton capacity specifications, with 800 cooling hours, 2,250 heating hours per year and 11.62 cents per KWh (Source: EIA National average electric rate-Rolling 12 months ending December 2012). Your actual costs will vary depending on the weather, local fuel rates, system settings and your personal lifestyle.
****Effective SEER and IEER estimates for the SunSource® air conditioning system are based on the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) annual performance factor (APF) method for heat pumps and air conditioners (10CFR part 430). Estimates of annual solar energy production are calculated using National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) PVWatts, calculated at tilt angle 10 degrees with an 180 degree azimuth. Estimates of annual cooling operating cost savings for the rooftop units are calculated using Lennox’ Total Cost of Ownership Calculator, with operating hours from 10 am to 10 pm in a small retail environment in the Omaha region. Estimated SEER energy calculations were made using Energence® LGH060H4E (5 ton/17 SEER 3-phase – 460V) and six 275DC W solar modules. IEER effective efficiency calculations were made using Energence LGH094U4E (7.5 ton/21.5 IEER 3-phase) and seven 275DC W solar modules. Note that SEER and IEER equivalents may vary by location.
