The Regina-based company is increasing its presence in Central Canada.

The Brandt Group of Companies, based in Regina, has acquired the assets of Sokkia’s Canadian business, based in Mississauga, Ont. The deal, which came into effect on July 2, makes Brandt the exclusive dealer for Sokkia’s geospatial supplies—including optical survey instruments, accessories and parts—for the Canadian market.

The acquisition marks Brandt’s entry into the Ontario and Quebec markets for geopositioning technology.

“Central Canada is an important new market and big step forward for us,” says Shaun Semple, Brandt’s CEO. “We are committed to delivering exceptional value for its survey, engineering and construction industry.”

With the deal, Brandt can now distribute and support the Sokkia product lineup—which includes total stations, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers, data collectors, digital levels and field accessories—under one, consolidated banner for the first time.

The move follows the company’s 2019 purchase of Nortrax, a John Deere Construction & Forestry dealer for Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador.
