Toronto-based software developer Augmenta has introduced the first module for its automated construction generative design platform.

The electrical design module enables engineers to accelerate the estimating and creation of fully constructible, code-compliant raceway designs, by automating the entire process with mathematical optimization and artificial intelligence (AI). Not only does this save time, but it also allows consulting engineering firms to produce multiple, alternative designs for comparison based on client-specified criteria.

Generated designs reportedly require up to 20% less material and labour than traditional designs. The module also cuts the time required to estimate projects by up to 50%.

“We plan to also provide solutions for plumbing, mechanical and structural engineers,” says Augmenta co-founder and CEO Francesco Iorio. “Our ultimate goal is an integrated solution that eliminates the time-consuming and error-prone processes of designing systems and then sharing and co-ordinating those designs across trades.”

Electrical engineers can register to pilot-test and evaluate the module here.
